Learn how to have a confident, well-mannered companion dog for life. It all starts with communicating in a way your dog understands. All classes taught by an experienced, certified professional trainer. You’ll learn how to teach and motivate your dog using the most powerful reward you can offer, your praise and affection. In most classes we incorporate basic agility equipment as a fun way to build your dog’s self-confidence.

Unless otherwise noted, classes are one hour and currently held indoors at Dogtopia of Canton, 2706 O’Donnell Street, Baltimore, MD 21224

Building Confidence through Agility

Is your dog shy? Does your dog act stressed or fearful in new situations? Anxious or otherwise lacking in confidence? This course is definitely for you! This class will help you gain the knowledge and skills you need to build your dog’s self-confidence.

You’ll learn:

  • How to use agility/utility equipment – it’s not about speed!
  • Proper leash handling so you can walk your dog with the confidence of a dog trainer.
  • How to read the signs of stress in your dog via their body language.
  • What to do when your dog freezes or panics and refuses to move.
  • Management techniques to get you through stressful situations.

Puppy Preschool

Intensive 4-week course for puppies 8 to 18 weeks of age

Our program will set you on the right path to a successful relationship with your pup. Each week we’ll cover basic problem solving, proper socialization, confidence building, and various educational topics. You’ll learn about house training, crate training, chewing, play biting, and how to prevent future problems such as resource guarding and separation anxiety. Puppies need their first round of distemper + parvo vaccines to participate in puppy playtime. [$119] Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30pm

The Basics

6-week foundation course for basic manners and obedience for dogs 5 months & up

This class helps you achieve good manners like not bolting out the front door, keeping 4 paws on the floor and walking on a loose leash. You’ll learn proper handling skills and basic obedience commands. [$189]

Pack Walks

Our group pack walks are an excellent opportunity to expose your dog to other dogs in a controlled environment. With practice they will learn to walk politely on leash and remain calm around other dogs and people. For dogs 5 months and older. FREE for dogs who have completed a training course with Pauline. All others are welcome to join; please make a donation to our rescue dog training fund.
